TOM ODELL for City Council
A Positive Change for the Council
Tom Odell wants to be your voice on the City Council and so his first priority will be to listen to the citizens and advocate for the issues that will bring real quality of life improvements to Sammamish.
Odell has identified three ‘hot button’ issues that he believes are important to all Sammamish residents:
Improving Traffic Congestion and Providing Transportation Alternatives: Tom Odell would substantially revise and limit the design of the East Lake Sammamish Parkway project to make wiser use of transportation dollars. He believes that there are other needed and currently unfunded projects that will provide greater traffic relief for Sammamish citizens. He will also focus on improving bus services, neighborhood connectivity issues, and completing the integration of the city’s trail system.
Reprioritizing City Spending: These are tough economic times. He believes that we need to turn away from all unnecessary expenditures on unneeded or nice-to-have items and instead focus on those that are truly needed and which offer real quality of life improvements for Sammamish residents. This would include such essential items as maintaining and upgrading existing roads and streets to protect our investment in this infrastructure.
Providing for a Community Center and Other Needed Services: Tom Odell will work for providing Sammamish with a badly needed community center that would be available to all residents. He also believes that we need to have expanded facilities for YMCA/YWCA and a Boys and Girls club on the Plateau. Other essential services such as police and fire protection need to be better aligned with the needs of the residents and the growing Sammamish community.
